Ministry Description:
The Altar Serving Ministry is an old standard in the Catholic Church. Many adults reading this can reflect on your youth in the Church and come up with an anecdotal altar serving story from either a personal experience or from a friend. Altar serving is a means of liturgy celebration through which our most important church members, our youth, can experience the joy of participation. Altar Serving is open to adults as well. We have several who serve at weekday, weekend, and special occasion Masses. The Altar Serving Ministry is responsible for recruiting, training, and scheduling altar servers for weekend, holiday and holy day Masses. Recruits for this ministry generally come from our 10 year old and older congregation. It is nearly all youth which makes this ministry quite unique from most others.
Please review our Altar Server Convenant Agreement and our Parental Altar Serving Covenant Agreement.
What this ministry can do for you:
For children in our congregation, this ministry builds self-confidence for being in front of large groups, provides an opportunity to meet other children and parents in our church, and opportunity to work with leaders in our church. It also helps with responsibility for keeping commitments as it pertains to scheduling.
For adults and children alike, this ministry provides a spiritual connection unlike sitting in the congregation and increases respect and reverence for our Blessed Sacrament.
